Re-Elect Trent Boultinghouse for Mission City Council, Ward 1

My name is Trent Boultinghouse and I am running for a second term on Mission City Council to ensure our city’s continued progress. Our city is the perfect combination of small-town charm and urban amenities, and my wife and I can’t think of a better place to call home, especially as we welcome our first child (and newest Mission resident) later this spring.

Though small, Ward 1 is home to a diverse group of residents – from empty nesters to young professionals and everyone in between. I listen to the needs of my neighbors and work to promote Mission as an inclusive, sustainable and attractive place to call home.

Why I’m Running

With the influx of federal infrastructure and relief money of the last two years, I will continue to be a responsible steward of city resources with a focus on sustainability, improving streets, and prioritizing walkability.

A little about me: in 2019, I was elected as one of the youngest city councilmembers in Mission’s history. Since my swearing in, I have made an effort to connect with our public works, police, and administration teams to better understand how staff does their jobs and serve the public. I have established meaningful relationships with other elected officials in the region and the state to advocate for Mission, even traveling with our mayor to Washington, D.C. to meet with Kansas’s congressional delegation in 2021 and 2022. My council colleagues elected me chair of the Finance and Administration committee, which I currently lead.

Among my proudest accomplishments from my first term include the passage of the Facilities Conservation Improvement Program (FCIP), which allowed for major efficiencies in the community center’s energy usage and led to LED conversion of our streetlights. I was also happy to spearhead funding for a Mental Health Co-Responder to be embedded with our police department to assist our officers with mental health-related calls.
